Day 24
Message
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 24th
Praying for WORSHIP in the New Year.
John 4:23-24 [NLT] “But the time is coming—indeed it's here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship Him that way. 24 For God is Spirit, so those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
THOUGHT for TODAY:
Worship is more than a word that describes what Christians do on Sunday morning. Worship is more than singing words with a melody. Worship is more than raising hands, kneeling, saying a prayer, and reading scripture. It is all of this, but so much more. Worship is living your whole life in submission to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Worship engages your spirit, soul, body, your mind, will, and emotions. Worship is what I do, how I treat people, and the way I live my life in public and in private. Zach Neese, author of “How To Worship A King,” said, “A worshiper is a person who has complete freedom to choose, but loves God so much the he chooses to serve and obey Him because there is nothing he’d rather do.” May we become that worshiper.
Scripture
Romans 12:1-2 [GNT] “So then, my friends, because of God's great mercy to us I appeal to you: Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to His service and pleasing to Him. This is the true worship that you should offer. 2 Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind.”
Psalm 95:6 [AMP] “O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker [in reverent praise and supplication].”
Hebrews 13:15 [ETRV] “So through Jesus we should never stop offering our sacrifice to God. That sacrifice is our praise, coming from lips that speak His name.”
Prayer
Father, I praise Your name and the name of Jesus, Your Son. May I live my life as worship unto You. As sacrifices were offered and they were a sweet smell to You in the Old Testament, may my life be a sweet smell of worship to You. I want to worship You with all that I am and all that I will become. I pray that my whole spirit, soul, body, mind, will, and emotions are engaged when I worship You. I will offer to You my life as a sacrifice of praise. I choose to serve and obey You. I choose to worship and praise You. I choose to sing, kneel, lift my hands, dance, and pour out my life as an offering to You. I will worship You in spirit and in truth. I ask for Your strength and blessing in the name of Jesus, amen!
What to pray
-
Determine to worship God in an extrovertive manner, more than you have up to this point in your relationship with Him. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you become more at ease with lifting your hands, kneeling, singing out loud, etc.
-
Pray for an encounter with God as you worship Him.
-
Confess and make Psalm 150:1-2,6 personal: “I WILL…Praise the Lord. I WILL…Praise God in His sanctuary. I WILL…Praise Him in His mighty heavens. I WILL…Praise Him for His acts of power. I WILL…Praise Him for His surpassing greatness. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. I WILL…Praise the Lord!
-
Approach the Lord in prayer by first singing a song of worship. Sing a song from your own heart with its own melody.
-
Become aware that all you do and all you are is worship unto Him.
