MONDAY, JANUARY 22nd

Praying for the HOMELESS in the New Year.

Deuteronomy 15:11 [ETRV] “There will always be poor people in the land. That is why I command you to be ready to help your brother or sister. Give to the poor in your land who need help.”

THOUGHT for TODAY:

In Killeen, we see the homeless every day. Many of the homeless are veterans. Most of the homeless need medical attention and many are dealing with psychological issues that keep them in the homeless community. Jesus quoted Deuteronomy 15:11 in Matthew 26:11. Even Jesus knows this is a group of people who will always be with us. How can we help? Where do we start? Who do we talk to? What do the homeless need? These are questions that most likely get asked daily concerning the homeless. God instructs the Church, His people, to help the poor, the homeless. May God guide us as we continue our partnership in February (Covenant Life Bags) with KPD in reaching and ministering to the men and women who are part of the homeless community.

Proverbs 22:9 [GNT] “Be generous and share your food with the poor. You will be blessed for it.”

Proverbs 19:17 [CEV] “Caring for the poor is lending to the Lord, and you will be well repaid.”

Prayer

Father, I pray for each man and woman who is homeless in Killeen. I pray for their physical welfare and for their mental well-being. I ask You, in Jesus’ name, to protect all of them from physical harm. Help us both individually and as a church to partner with other organizations who are reaching and helping the homeless of our city. May we be generous in our endeavors, personally and corporately, to aid in the healing of each man and woman who is homeless. When we have opportunity, may we speak to them, be kind to them, and show them that God cares, and God loves them. I ask for Your strength and blessing in the name of Jesus, amen!

What to pray

Pray for KPD and their Homeless Task Force in helping those who are homeless in Killeen.
Pray for a solution in moving the homeless away from the highways to a better place that protects them from the elements.
Pray for those who are sleeping under the overpasses and those who are asking for help on the street corners. Pray for protection, that no harm will come to them, and that people will be kind and not hateful when addressing them.
Pray for their belongings not to be stolen.
Pray for them to be saved and come to the knowledge of Christ.
