Day 19
Message
FRIDAY, JANUARY 19th
Praying for FIRST RESPONDERS in the New Year.
Matthew 5:9 [NIV] “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.”
THOUGHT for TODAY:
When we think of the Police, Fire Fighters, and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), our first thought about them is most likely not the word “peacemakers,” yet, that is what they are called to be and to do. In very chaotic and stressful situations they are called on to bring “peace.” One of the many definitions of the word peace means: a state of calm; freedom from violence and disturbance. This has become a much more difficult task over the last few years for First Responders. Respect and honor are no longer given by citizens just because of the uniform. According to the Word of God [Romans 13:1-5], these are the men and women who deserve our respect and admiration as well as a healthy fear of breaking the law. They have a challenging job, and it is for our wellbeing and safety.
Scripture
Romans 13:4-5 TLB] “The policeman is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he will have you punished. He is sent by God for that very purpose. 5 Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should.”
Philippians 2:17 [ETRV] “Your faith makes you give your lives as a sacrifice in serving God. Maybe I will have to offer my own life with your sacrifice. But if that happens, I will be glad, and I will share my joy with all of you.”
1 John 3:16 [GNT] “This is how we know what love is: Christ gave His life for us. We too, then, ought to give our lives for others!”
Prayer
Father, I give You thanks for the men and women who are First Responders. They have a difficult job to perform, many times in the midst of great chaos, pain, and even unsafe surroundings. Protect them by blood of Jesus and with Your mighty angels. May they have clarity of thought and strength in their purpose when helping people who are in great need. May they feel Your protection surrounding when they respond to volatile circumstances. I pray that they are safe and will return home daily to their families. I ask for Your strength and blessing in the name of Jesus, amen!
