Day 18

Message

THURSDAY, JANUARY 18th

Praying for the ARMED FORCES in the New Year.

Psalm 144:1 [ETRV] “The Lord is my Rock. Praise the Lord! He prepares me for war. He trains me for battle.”

THOUGHT for TODAY:

Living in Killeen, which is next to Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood), you get an appreciation for the men and women who wear the uniform of the Unites States Army. I remember how strange it was when we first moved to Killeen in 2001 and I saw so many soldiers in their BDUs. The sacrifices that are made for their families and their country are ones that cannot be appropriately repaid. Time away from family, bodily and psychological injuries, and fighting wars are the harsh realities of being a soldier. Honor, respect, pride, devotion, and patriotism are just a few of the words that describe the fighting men and women of our Armed Forces. Freedom is never free. As an American we say, “Thank you and may God bless you,” to every soldier who has worn and will wear the unform of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Cost Guard, and Space Force.

Scripture

Psalm 18:1-2 [CEV] “I love You, Lord God, and You make me strong. 2 You are my mighty rock, my fortress, my protector, the rock where I am safe, my shield, my powerful weapon, and my place of shelter.”

Psalm 60:12 [VOICE] “Only through God can we be successful. It is God alone who will defeat our enemies and bring us victory!

Psalm 18:32-34 [ETRV] “God is the one who gives me strength. He clears the path I need to take. 33 He makes my feet as steady as those of a deer. Even on steep mountains he keeps me from falling. 34 He trains me for war so that my arms can bend the most powerful bow.”

Prayer

Father, I pray for all the soldiers in the United States Armed Forces. May You protect them. Put Your angels around them to watch, guard, and keep them. Give them strength, wisdom, courage, and may they be cunning when facing the enemy. May they live a long life and prosper. Protect and bless their families. May they excel in their training and in leading others. I pray “no weapon formed against them can prosper.” May they be victorious in every endeavor concerning the well-being and safety of every American citizen. I ask for Your strength and blessing in the name of Jesus, amen!

What to pray

  • Pray for their families – protection, strength, peace, health, and peace of heart and mind.

  • Speak over them supernatural protection, courage, wisdom, faith, physical strength, and peace of mind.

  • Pray for favor with their superiors and with their peers.

  • Pray for those who have physical and psychological injuries, for healing and health.

  • May those who transition out of the Armed Forces have a core group who help them reacclimate to civilian life.
