OBEDIENCE
Today’s Scripture: Psalm 112:1 [GNT] “Praise the Lord! Happy is the person who honors the Lord, who takes pleasure in obeying His commands.”
Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German pastor, said, “You can only learn what obedience is by obeying.” Obedience to God’s commands is the true sign of your love for God, and the only way you can know if you are obeying God is by knowing His Word. We should obey the commandments of Christ not out of fear, but as loving children of God, trusting in Him who created us to be in communion with Himself. Obedience to God brings a closeness to Him. He draws close because of our obedience. In the new year of 2025 make obedience to the Word of God your highest priority. Your life will change drastically because of your commitment to obey God’s Word.
Scripture
James 1:22 [GNT] “Do not deceive yourselves by just listening to His word; instead, put it into practice.”
Confession: I will obey the Word of God. I will do more than just listen to what the Word says. I will no longer allow myself to be deceived. I will put into practice the principles of God’s Word.
John 14:21 [VOICE] “The one who loves Me will do the things I have commanded. My Father loves everyone who loves Me; and I will love you and reveal My heart, will, and nature to you.”
Confession: I will obey the Word of God. I love You, Jesus, and my Father, who is God. Thank You, Father, for loving me. Jesus, reveal Your heart, will, and nature to me. I will walk in faith and obedience.
Psalm 143:10 [CEV] “You are my God. Show me what You want me to do, and let Your gentle Spirit lead me in the right path.
Confession: I will obey the Word of God. Let the Holy Spirit lead me and guide me into all truth. Your Word is truth. God, You are my God, and I will ever praise You. Open my heart and mind to know what You want me to do.
Prayer
Father, forgive me for where I have been disobedient to Your Word and to Your will. I ask for Your forgiveness. I ask that my heart be tender when I do anything that contradicts Your Word and be quick to repent. I ask for strength and perseverance to walk in obedience to the holy scriptures. May my love for You increase my desire to be obedient. I will take pleasure in obeying Your commands. In the Name of Jesus I pray, amen.
